Man's home is his castle.

Arkansas man is building a moat around his house to prevent it from being totally flooded with water from the recent White River flood. Sounds crazy enough until you actually get to see it. Family and friends are joining him in sand-bagging the area around the moat. Luckily, everyone seems to own a motor boat in that part of the country.

The White River flood is part of the larger Mississippi River flooding that has already reached historic levels. Economists are currently estimating billions of dollars in damages.

Owner of the house in this video is called Russel, and he has some awesome people that are helping him keep his property undamaged. You can see that he is taking literally the old - “Man’s home is his castle” saying.

We on the other hand have more interesting solutions like this one:

  4. Despite their efforts, It doesn't look like the wall's particularly effective. Minecraft houses are far safer.

  7. Pretty ingenious way to protect his home. I dunno how I would feel about living anywhere where it would be possible to ride a boat down my street though. On the plus side, this also probably keeps out creepers.

  17. I wonder how often he has to go back to check the structure he's built. It can't be the most stable of things... although I assume that's why he has that secondary moat right next to it - to give him time to rebuild and drain it.
